Not the kind of parking ticket that you are thinking about! To park in most of the malls here, you have to pay. When you enter, they always give you a small slip of paper, even though the parking fee is a flat fee–today of 30 pesos. When you leave the parking area, you have to pay your 30 pesos and turn in your paper slip. I couldn’t find mine today and I created quite a commotion. I said that I would pay whatever the fee was for a lost ticket stub but they would not accept that. I had to pull over and show them my owners registration as well as my drivers license. Normally, I would not have enjoyed this but today in particular since today is color coding for our car and I am not allowed to be on the road between 7 a.m. and 3 pm. Well, it was about 2:45 and I told the guard that I had to go or I would get a fine. It was quite a scene in the car with Doris and I trying to find this piece of paper. When I finally gave up (sort of) and gave the guard my paperwork to copy down, I found my paper stub wadded up on the floor. Then, the guard said that I had not paid–I know that I had already done so. Lost that battle as well! Normally, I am very calm and collected when things happen here but today I was not exactly the ugly American but not very pretty sight! Guess God is not yet finished with me.
